Every nation that exists has a means by which trade is done. This medium of exchange is called money. Money comes in a number of currencies depending 9a0-148on which nation it is from. Every nation has a notation system to denote their local currency. However, there are currencies that are widely accepted the world over due to their stability and common usage. Such currencies like United States dollar, British Pound sterling and the Euro are the most prevalent currencies all over the world. Money has a variety of uses. Below are some of those uses that justify money's existence. Some of the points are from a Biblical Christian standpoint.
Uses of Finances
1. Finances take care of the country and people's welfare - When you pay taxes you are improving your life. You are contributing positively to the welfare of the nation. You concern must be "Have I paid my taxes". Leave Finance Ministry to budget and spend as they see fit. Well, if you feel you are called to Finance at a higher level, make yourself available to help with finances for the country. Do not just complain. Contribute to the nation. Ask what you can do for a nation.
2. Finances help us pay for goods and services - Without money, we remain in great need as it is the main form of exchange that exists. Gone are the days of barter trade where you could give me a goat and I give you a pig. Even in the temple, they had a flea market until Jesus showed them how to run business. So money is used to conduct business in the market place. THe less money you have, the less product you can buy.
3. We use money to be a blessing - Money is a blessing from the Lord. He is the source of all blessing. His word teaches that we are blessed to be a blessing. We are not blessed to be consumers of blessing only even though that is part of the plan. We are blessed to bless others.9a0-146 You can make such a difference to someone when you give them finances or buy them a gift. You never know what impact you make in someone else's life when you bless them. Even the quality of prayers will improve in our church if we learn to bless each other. Some prayer requests will cease.
4. We use money to honour our Father in Heaven - I know it puzzles many to say how come we give money to God through a church. The Bible says bring all the tithes into my house. Read Malachi. We make contact with God's economy through out participation in church. Again your business is to honor what God says in His word. He gives you 100% Salary so that you exercise the Power of Choice to take 10% back to Him and make use of the 90%. We use our 10% so that our 90% even goes further than our 100%.
5. Money is a representation of our sweat and blood - Money is therefore spiritual. You are a spiritual being, living in a body and you possess a soul. So when you give of your offerings and you part with money, you are sending money into the Kingdom to speak on your behalf, in your absence. This is why we even pray for the offerings that we give. Money is the seed you sow to reap a harvest. We send the seed away with clear instruction for multiplication. So in summary we use money to be 9a0-142our ambassador, representing and speaking for us.
The Bible is full of money matters. We will examine closely and unravel myths and truths about money is the coming weeks.
